1/17/2024 0 Comments 2000 mercedes 230 kompressorI think the ONLY way they could make money on this deal is if they bought that car for wholesale in Texas, and sold it here in canada for retail. all that blah blah blah aside, not to trash on the cars we all love, but that lady and her husband must not be the wisest investors, IMO. In my experience, the SLK wasn't even on my radar as a potential option, until I drove one at the Benz dealership when the S-Class was in for service.Īnyway. I feel like its not really common knowledge. People don't all know or understand that they can purchase a Mercedes hardtop convertible, with front and side airbags, a two-tone leather interior, Bose stereo and all the other cool stuff that our cars come with, for under $20,000. The reason? I think there is a specific market for these cars. I'm not in a hurry to sell my car, nor will I be upset if I don't sell it (I like my car quite a bit), but my price is relatively low, and neither me, nor 98% of the other SLK sellers in my province have had any luck selling their cars this summer. In the past couple of months, I've gotten a handful of phone calls and interest. And this coming from someone who has had their SLK for sale for the past 8 weeks, there is a lot more supply than there is demand. There's nothing mystical about the 2000 model year in particular either. Many people have had the R170 SLK for years now and are selling them in favor of something new. ![]() etc, with the new SLKs offering more features and more power. Most are affordable and have similar features and power as the SLK. Now you have hardtop convertibles built by Pontiac, VW, BMW, Lexus, PEUGEOT (for crying out loud!) and of course the current SLK and SL just to name a few. In fact, they are less special than they were just a couple years ago- mainly because the SLK was once the only hardtop convertible on the block, and fully loaded, and fast. ![]() However, as a percentage of purchase price, my SLK has depreciated far less. My Oldsmobile, although it was crappy, depreciated about $3000 in the 3 years that I owned it. That doesn't seem like a great investment to me. My SLK has depreciated like $6500 since I bought it 2 years ago. What the f*** is wrong with these people. The hype of the new millenium? That was 7 years ago. What do you think? Is the 2000 SLK 320 an investment? Highly Desirable? Perhaps I’m wrong? I’m looking forward to your toughts, since she swears that her husband researched the pricing, and claims it’s rising. :1poke: While I do agree there are many MB’s and other cars that are true classics – I don’t believe this car is rising in value whatsoever, it's my belief that this car simply depreciates like any other modern MB. ![]() He claims the Y2K model is more valuable as well due to the hype around the new millenium. She claims that her Husband forced her to buy the 2000 model SLK, since it would be a collectible car, that the value is RISING, and that it is very high in demand and will actually INCREASE in value, becoming a sound financial investment. Perhaps everyone can help me settle an argument. It looks almost exactly like the one in the picture above. So a co-worker of mine has a 2000 SLK 230 Kompressor, white, automatic, in good condition.
